This study analyzed the impact of different leadership styles on work-life balance (WLB) in organizational contexts. This research study conducted a systematic literature review, analyzing 19 peer-reviewed articles published from 2003 to 2020. Relevant studies have been identified by systematic searches on databases like Google Scholar, JSTOR, and PubMed, utilizing keywords such as 'leadership styles' and 'work-life balance.' Articles were chosen based on factors such as their emphasis on organizational contexts, empirical evidence, and significance to the subject matter. The articles were analysed to identify the influence of transformational, transactional, and laissez-faire leadership styles on employees’ satisfaction, their engagement, and organizational commitment in relation to WLB. The findings from the review revealed that Transformational leadership is the most effective approach for cultivating a healthy work-life environment, hence improving satisfaction and engagement. Whereas, Transactional leadership, which emphasizes task completion and rewards, is less favorable for work-life balance, frequently favoring organizational objectives over individual well-being. Moreover, Laissez-faire leadership, marked by limited direction, is associated with diminished satisfaction and commitment. Therefore, the study emphasized the need for gender-specific research to tackle the distinct work-life balance difficulties encountered by men and women. Future research requires to concentrate on leadership dynamics specific to organizations, especially in areas where work-life balance is essential. Essential policy proposals encompass the advancement of transformational leadership, gender-centric research, and adaptable work policies. This review contributes to understand the vital role leadership plays in enhancing employee well-being and organizational success.
