Hindu Majoritarian Rule and Challenges to Muslim Identity in India

Abstract

Apparently, the non-accommodative posture of the Bhartiya Janta Party and pursuit of Hindu majoritarian policies are perceived to be an existential threat towards the biggest minority i.e., Muslims. It necessitates an investigation and a careful study that how the Muslim and the Hindu identities evolved an irreconcilable character and got mired into conflictual-oppositional matrix. The ferocious Hindutva treats Muslims as aliens in the land and has threatened the mosaic of Muslim identity. This study attempts to analyze the factors and causes why Modi’s India is entirely different from the India which has been construed by its founding fathers promulgating Indian nationalism, coexistence, and composite culture.
