One of the aspects that are frequently linked to the lack of self-regulation is academic procrastination that is a widespread issue among university students. The current research conducted on the predictive value of self-control in academic procrastination on 450 university students in a quantitative cross-sectional study. Pearson correlation and simple linear regression were used to analyze data with the help of SPSS. They found statistically significant positive correlation between self-control and academic procrastination, r(448) =.228, p <.001. It was also found that self-control was a significant predictor of academic procrastination, F(1, 448) = 24.62, p <.001, and explained 5.2 percent of the variance (R 2 =.052). Though the effect size was very small, the results tend to indicate that self-control is a significant psychological variable that correlates with the tendencies of procrastination. The paper reveals the necessity of interventions based on self-regulation to minimize academic procrastination among university students.
