This research empirically scrutinizes the ecological dimension of ICT at the global level by using different key indicators. This paper conducts an analysis to provide comprehensive documentation regarding ICT impact on environmental degradation from 1984 to 2019. The empirical findings are based on Ordinary Least Square (OLS), Pooled OLS, Two-Stage Least Squares (2SLS), and Generalized Method of Moment (GMM) techniques. By applying cross-sectional and panel data, this research found evidence that ICT is an effective tool to alleviate environmental degradation. The study points out many policy implications drawn from its findings.
2022-06-29T00:00:00-04:00 Copyright (c) 2022 Tayba Ayub Flexural Performance of Concrete Structures Reinforced with Fiber Reinforced Polymer (FRP) 2022-06-21T17:48:03-04:00 Wahbi Albasyouni Mohamed Radwan
One of the most recent uses of FRP is to replace the use of steel in reinforced concrete structures. There are multiple reasons for deciding to choose FRP instead of steel such as their lightweight which can be quite beneficial to the design of buildings, high strength, and high flexibility. However, the initial use of this material was anticipated in the retrofitting of heritage buildings or any other damaged structures. There are several studies that concentrated on the use of FRP to enhance shear and flexural strength of concrete structures. However, limited studies concentrated on the effect of FRP on flexural behavior of concrete beams. Therefore, the aim of this research is to investigate the flexural performance of concrete beams that are reinforced using fiber reinforced polymers. The experimental program that was conducted in this study was divided into 4 different beams, 2 of them were reinforced using ordinary steel, while the other 2 were reinforced using carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP). The highest potential deflection occurred in steel beam was 4.2 mm after applying a maximum of 42 MPa. The second beam was reinforced with FRP and accomplished 38.06 MPa, and the resulted deflection was around 12mm. The third beam was reinforced with steel and highest flexural strength measured was 75.56 MPa, while the deflection resulted from this load is 5.52 mm. Finally, the last beam was reinforced using FRP rebar and resulted deflection was 11.11 from 60.84 MPa. This study has showed the potential of using FRP in concrete structures especially in terms of flexural performance. Further studies are needed to investigate the influence of water and chemical substances on the performance of concrete beams reinforced with FRP.
2022-06-29T00:00:00-04:00 Copyright (c) 2022 Wahbi Albasyouni, Mohamed Radwan The Influence of Economic Growth and Energy Consumption on Environmental Degradation in Pakistan 2022-09-16T15:22:38-04:00 Seemab Zahra Chishti Muhammad Hasnain Ali Madiha Khan Muhammad Sabih ul Hassan
Globalization has substantial influence on the environmental issues and consequently on the economic activities of a country. Environmental problems are more prominent in developing countries. With the growing development, the issue of environmental degradation is also enhanced. The non-renewable energy consumption is the main cause of environmental degradation and this problem can’t be ignored. Therefore, the main objective of this research is to analyze the connection among energy consumption, growth of an economy, and emission of carbon dioxide gas in Pakistan. The data is collected from World development Indicators. Autoregressive Distributed-Lag Model (ARDL) is used for the analysis. The outcomes of ARDL technique stipulate that energy consumption and growth of an economy rise the emission of CO2 in Pakistan. On the basis of these results, it is suggested that policy makers in Pakistan must implement and encourage different sources of energy, which are renewable and will support to fulfill the huge demand of energy to boost the economy and to contribute in a sustainable environment of Pakistan.
2022-06-29T00:00:00-04:00 Copyright (c) 2022 Seemab Zahra Chishti, Muhammad Hasnain Ali, Madiha Khan, Muhammad Sabih ul Hassan The Role of Sustainable Energy, Technology Adoption, and Green Finance on the Environmental Sustainability in China 2022-10-20T14:12:29-04:00 Waseem Yousaf Snober Fazal
Environmental sustainability (ES) has gained global attention due to uncertain environmental and economic conditions, and this phenomenon needs researchers’ intention. Therefore, the current article examines the impact of sustainable energy, such as renewable energy (RE) output and RE consumption, technology adoption, green finance (GF), and economic growth (EG) on environmental sustainability in China. The article has gathered the data from World Development Indicators (WDI) and the central bank from 1990 to 2020. The study employed autoregressive distributed lag (ARDL) to check the connection among the constructs. The findings exposed that the RE output and RE consumption, technology adoption, GF, and EG have positive ES in China. These findings guide the regulators in developing regulations related to improving ES using sustainable energy, GF, and technology adoption.
2022-06-30T00:00:00-04:00 Copyright (c) 2022 Waseem Yousaf, Snober Fazal Sectoral Growth, Exports, and Energy Consumption: A Case of Pakistan 2022-11-28T01:52:14-05:00 Komal Urooj Muhammad Ali Zafar
Economic Growth is a prominent factor to affect the energy consumption of Pakistan. This study tends to explore the influence of GDP growth of sectoral growth, agricultural, industrial and service sector on the level of energy consumption fossil fuel in Pakistan from 1990 to 2019 long period of time. The data was obtained from WDI (World Development Indicators). ARDL (Auto Regressive Distributive Lag Model) econometric model was designed to look into the impacts of fossil fuel or energy consumption on Pakistan’s economic growth in both the short-run and long-run. Results revealed negative impacts of energy consumption or the use of fossil fuel on industry, personal expenditures, and exports of goods and positively affect agriculture and services and model is significant. These results showed that that economic expansion plays important role to increase energy consumption of Pakistan.
2022-06-30T00:00:00-04:00 Copyright (c) 2022 Komal Urooj, Muhammad Ali Zafar
